Minutes from April 8, 2010 Highway Committee Meeting
Present: Ron Kinsley, Dale Schleeter, Mel Olson, Ken Maki, Doug Mrotek
Guests: Steve and Ann Kormann, Randy Reidl, and Tom Scalzo
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Ron Kinsley
1. Approve agenda and any additions
Motion by Maki, second by Schleeter to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
2. Approve minutes from March meeting
Motion by Olson, second by Maki to approve minutes from the March meeting. Motion carried.
3. Audience recognition
None
4. Cost Share Agreement on CTH C with Kormann’s
Gary had a cost share agreement for construction and maintenance drawn up for this project. Motion by Maki, second by Schleeter to approve the agreement pending approval by Corporation Counsel. Motion carried.
5. Award gravel, asphalt, pulverizing, and centerline striping bids

7. Discussion regarding 2010 summer help
Gary indicated that the county would need the 4 college students, and the 2 skilled temporary workers. Motion by Schleeter, second by Olson to approve and to send to the Personnel and Administrative Committee for approval. Motion carried.
8. Commissioner’s Report
Gary indicated that the crew is doing cracksealing on the state highways and then will start working on the county roads. The road bands will be lifted on the county roads at 12:01 a.m. on Monday April 12, 2010. The county employees will have the annual hearing tests on April 15, 2010. Gary indicated that the water samples came back from being tested and there is no contamination in the water at the three county shops. Gary informed the committee that the summer highway conference will be held in Wisconsin Dells on June 7,8, and 9 at the Kalahari Resort. They will be conducting the safety rodeo that some of our employees attend last year. Gary informed the committee that the Finance Committee did approve the equipment purchases that were presented from the March highway meeting. Ron Kinsley requested that the traffic counters be placed on CTH M at State Highway 70 in Draper, and on CTH B near Johansen’s. Motion by Olson, second by Mrotek to approve the commissioner’s report. Motion carried.

10. Other matters for discussion only
Committee members were questioning what construction work was being done in Sawyer County this year. Gary indicated the following would be completed in 2010.
State Highway 77 from Pamida to 27N, State Highway 70 from Winter to Oxbo, State Highway 27N from Duck Pond Road to Barnes, State Highway 48 from Birchwood to Exeland, and State Highway 27 from Stone Lake to Ojibwa.
11. Out of county travel
Gary Gedart and Robert Hill to Endangered Spies Worshop in Park Falls on April 16th
Joanne Nitz to Power Outage Workshop in Rice Lake on April 22nd
Motion by Maki, second by Schleeter to approve the out of county travel. Motion carried.
12. Review and approve March bills
Motion by Maki, second by Schleeter to approve the March bills. Motion carried.
13. Closed Session
Minutes of closed session are kept in a confidential file of the Office of Highway Commissioner and Office of County Clerk.
