minutes of the meeting of the Finance Committee

Sawyer County Board of Supervisors

September 22, 2010, 9:00 a.m., Assembly Room, Sawyer County Courthouse

 

members present:

Warren Johnson (Chair), Kathy McCoy, James Bassett, Dale Schleeter, Bruce Paulsen

 

also present:  County Board Chair Hal Helwig, County Clerk Kris Mayberry

 

Motion by McCoy, 2nd by Schleeter, to approve the meeting agenda as presented.  Motion carried.

 

The Committee discussed with Land Records Department Director Robyn Thake that the Property Address System Committee would meet to discuss preparing a request for proposals for contracting for property address sign installation and maintenance services and the option of using current County employees to provide those services.

 

The Committee reviewed and made numerous adjustments to the current draft of the detailed proposed 2011 Sawyer County Budget page by page.

 

The Committee discussed the reimbursement of libraries not located in the County (and the LCO Community College Library) for library services provided to Sawyer County residents, whether to request that Sawyer County be granted a representative on the LCO Community College Library Board, and whether to consider establishing a County library system.

 

The Committee determined to request that the Forestry Committee consider a policy for sharing vehicles within the Forestry Department and with other departments, and whether the department needs to purchase the laptop computer in the 2011 Forestry Department budget.

 

The Committee determined to add an appropriation in the Maintenance Department budget for unused sick and vacation payout to account for Maintenance Department Supervisor Dennis Erickson’s planned retirement in 2011.

 

The Committee determined to discuss disposing of the balance in the Sawyer County Fair capital projects fund at the October meeting of the Committee.
