The Sawyer County Highway Department constructs and maintains the County Trunk Highway System (lettered highways) within Sawyer County. They also maintain the State Trunk Highway System (numbered highways) under contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The Highway Department’s administrative office and shop are located in Hayward. There are two outlying shops located in Radisson and Winter.
The Department is responsible for 229 miles of County Trunk Highways and 162 miles of State Trunk Highways.
