The Public Heath Department provides and promotes the following services in Sawyer County:  Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, Reproductive Health, Women's Health, Prenatal/Postpartum and Special Needs Visits, Immunization, WIC, Environmental Health, Communicable Disease Control, Oral Health, Public Health Preparedness Response.

Did you know that Wisconsin health departments are required to conduct community education on 11 identified health priorities? To accomplish this, every month Sawyer County Public Health sends out a new health priority message into the community. We do radio announcements and talk shows, a newspaper article and newsletter features, posters, and now we’re happy to add our Health Priority of the Month message on this web site.

 

PUBLIC HEALTH

The Health Department offers a variety of activities targeted at health promotion and disease prevention. Services provided are:

• Immunizations

• Community Health Planning & improvement

• Fluoride

• WIC (Woman, Infants and Children supplemental food program)

• Reproductive Health

• Communicable disease education & follow-up

• Pre-natal and Post-partum (visits for education and counseling, breast feeding support)

• Case management Services

• Tobacco Cessation

• Women's health screening (mammograms and pap exams for women)

• Environmental health

• Public health preparedness

All programs are available in Hayward and Winter/Exeland area.

HOME HEALTH

Our goal is to provide professional home health care services to Sawyer County residents in need. Sawyer County Home Health is a Medicare certified Wisconsin state licensed home care agency. Services provided:

• Registered Nurses

• Physical Therapy

• Home Health Aides

• Speech Therapy

 

 

PERSONAL CARE WORKER

The Personal Care Worker program is a means of caring for clients in the community who are medically stable and still have definite needs for assistance with their personal cares.

Our goal is to allow clients to continue to live at home as long as possible, thus avioding the more costly alternative of nursing home care.
