PURPOSE:
Complete developmental evaluation.  Home visits provided by home trainer.  Infant and toddler stimulation in motor skills, speech, self-help skills, social and cognitive development.  Physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as parent support and referral assistance.
ELIGIBILITY:
Any child under the age of 3 who lives in Sawyer County who shows delays in physical, mental, and/or speech development.  Early Intervention services are free, although third party may be billed for evaluation and service (insurance/medical assistance).

LCO FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM

PURPOSE:  
The LCO Foster Grandparent program recognizes that elders and youth are important resources of the tribes and assists elders and youth in having contact between generations.  Elders have stories of wisdom, experience, Tribal and cultural heritage, and most importantly, time and love to share.  Children, our joy and our future, have many special needs which are not met in these busy times.  Both generations need love and attention on a one-to one basis.  Daily meals and transportation are provided whenever possible.  Time requirements are 20 hours/week for 5 working days for which a small stipend of $2.20 is provided along with help with life and car insurance.
ELIGIBILITY:           
Age 60 and over, low-income and relatively good health; applicants should enjoy and be able to share themselves with young people.

PURPOSE:  
Designed to serve and protect children's rights and needs, not only individually but also as a family unit to help people cope with the many stresses and situations that cause a maladaptive family environment.  Information and assistance on mental health, alcohol and drug abuse, parenting skills, crisis intervention, teenage pregnancy, suicide, foster care, child abuse, stress reduction, truancy and incest.
ELIGIBILITY:           
American Indian families on or near the LCO Reservation.  Referrals can be made through the Sheriff's Department, Department of Social Services or by self-referral.

NORTHLAND COUNSELING SERVICES

PURPOSE:  
Specialty areas of our counseling staff are: Parenting, Child Behavior Concerns, Attention deficit Disorders, Adolescent Issues, Anxiety, Depression, Single Parenting, and Spirituality to name a few.  The common theme throughout treatment is wellness.
FEE:
Accepts Medicare and Medical Assistance.  Medical insurance and health plans frequently cover part or all of cost.  Sliding fee scale is also available.

SAWYER COUNTY SEXUAL ASSAULT ADVOCATE

PURPOSE:  
Domestic abuse/sexual abuse community advocate.  Shelter care for victims and their children, advocacy, 24 hr crisis line, crisis intervention, support group, legal services and peer counseling.  Also community education and referrals.

PURPOSE:  
To assist families, children and youth by providing juvenile court intake and supervision services, child welfare services which include child abuse/neglect investigations, substitute care and court studies, domestic abuse and day care services.
ELIGIBILITY:           
Must be a resident of Sawyer County.  Some programs are based on income eligibility and need, which may require a formal application.
FEE:  
Some programs charge a fee or a co-payment.

Pairs youth with a caring adult that meets with them at least one hour a week.  Group activities and trips are also  planned for youth participation.

PURPOSE:
Promoting positive lifestyles through youth empowerment.  Youth ages 10-18 participate in adult supervised healthy alternatives to drugs and alcohol.  Special events, activities and trips are held throughout the year that challenge youth participants to go beyond their self-perceived limitations in order that they “grow” and become healthy, happy, and successful adults.
